Snow Day
I could not believe it. When I got up this morning, it was snowing.
And the news lady was saying "Yes, it's snowing, but there won't be enough to accumulate on the ground". Well she was wrong, wrong, wrong. As she was saying that, there was already somewhat of an accumulation at my house.
I had the boys get dressed and go out to play before the sun was up because I was afraid once the sun came up it would melt, I was wrong too. It kept snowing and kept snowing until we had a good four or five inches. In fact, it's almost noon and there is still snow on the ground.
The boys had a really good time throwing snow balls. We even made three snow men. I will post pictures later, but for now I just want to say how much fun it was and how nice it was just to play with the boys. Everyone else - enjoy your snow day - Theresa

My Birthday
Anyway, the kids and Shane were great as always. We went to eat a PF Chang's. It was really good and we had a great time. Their Kung Pao Scallops are soooo good - they practically melt in your mouth and taste like spicy butter. UNBELIEVABLE!! If you haven't been there - take the next opportunity to go.
Webelos Camp Out
The first weekend in November we took all of our Webelos camping to earn their Outdoorsman badge. It was a great weekend. They did complain because we had some work to do, but I think they had the best time ever. They had to set up their own tent, learn fire safety and how to build their own fire, and basically learned how to take care of themselves in the outdoors. The best part was the cooking. They made stoves out of big tin cans, they baked a cake in a cardboard box, and even cooked biscuits on a stick over an open fire.
The weather was perfect. It was chilly, but not too cold. I loved getting to be outside. And I was really comfy sleeping on the air mattress between Shane and Hayden. I also love being the scout leader. I know it sounds cheesey, but I cannot believe how much they have learned and grown since we started with them in 1st grade. It's really exciting to think that I had some small part in that. And its also uplifting to see how close they are. Caleb has some true friends!! (even if they fight like brothers sometimes)

Riding Lessons
Well, if you know Caleb, you know how obsessive he can be about things and you also know how much he loves animals. His most recent obsession has been with horses. With this in mind, when we were at the Cooking for our Kids fundraiser we bid on two different certificates for horseback riding lessons, thinking we might win the auction on one. Needless to say, our plan backfired and we won both sets.
They finally got to take their first lessons and they had sooooo much fun. It was great to watch them do something so cool. And it felt good to let them experience something that is different. The first set was at Waneteri Lakes and there was some confusion about the appointment etc., but they didn't care. Check out the smiles on their faces. - Theresa

Okay, you know 95% of what we do is with the scouts. So, true to form, the first thing I will post on my blog will be about scouts. The two younger boys had Cub Scout day camp in June and had a blast. Of course, Caleb said he didn't want to go and he didn't have fun. The only part he liked was BB's, Nature, Fishing, Safety ...etc. Yeah, I can't believe I'm so mean that I kept making him go.
Hayden, on the other hand, will readily tell you how much fun he had. He said his favorite part is was water day, but he had fun with all of it. He liked making his lunch, loved the guys from Entergy, and really enjoyed the nature hikes. I went and worked the whole week and was really excited because all of our Webelos got to attend. Unfortunately, none of the other Tiger cubs were able to attend.
Anyway, I was a great week and I had just as much fun as the boys did. I was really proud of all of them (not just my kids, but my scouts too).
I posted a slide show from the week below. It's really nice because I included all of the boys from our pack. It takes a while to play because it's a big file but it's worth it. If it's too long for you to sit through at least fast forward to water day and the section on family. Enjoy!!
Another Ed Tech project
I know, I know, envy is bad. But it's not like I don't want her to have one, I have just always wanted to be as cool as her.
Yeah, I know, keep dreaming.
